The department of education in Middelfart Municipality is responsible for ensuring quality andimplementation of national and regional policies for the public school system from early childhood - to secondary education. We are responsible for business management, finance, educational strategies, Development of staff and developing our schoolswith measures based on knowledge and science. Our Work is based on national policies as well as policies from our local governmend. We administrate: 11 public schools, 16 kindergartens, 4 special needs schools, 1 youth centre, 1music school and 11 leisure time centres. Alltogether we have app. 300 pre-school teachers and 16 heads of kindergartens.

The department is under the political town counsil, which has made clear directions for thekindergartens of Middelfart, setting direction and objectives to strengthen learning for all children.This has led to a concrete policy of Work, where there is focus on the following themes; parentscooperation, leading initiatives to prevent learning inequality, linguistic competencies, outdoorlearning and digital competencies.
All kindergarten’s work is focues upon this policy of Work and every half year, they set focus on oneof the themes of improvement. We strive to strengthen and improve pre-school teacher’s knowledgeand skills towards children’s digital competencies and make them able to choose activities and toolstowards the objectives:

- Children are not only users - but co-creators in the us eof digital media

- Pre-school teachers take responsibility and use digital tools in their pedagogical pracsis in Development and support of the pedagogical chore task

- Pre-school teachers can transform the lrearning process to new learning, where apps, e-books,video and Photo reportages are relevant
