Designcircle Svanen

To embrace the Design Circle and incorperate it in a meaningfull way, we use it in our projekt ”movement – excersice – health”. Right now we are focusing on organs and what happens in our body when we excercise. To start up the Design Circle we used it toghether with a clay challenge about organs.

We started the investigating part toghether with the children early in the year, trying different expressions of their choice such as stopmotion, greenscreen, theater, creating their own series etc. This has been a fun, challenging and creative way for the children to share and show their learning process.

To involve the children more in our workprogress we asked them what kind of tools or expression they would like to use to show others what they had learned.

One of the childrens ideas was creating their own series, for this we used the app Photoshop Mix. The story starts with excercing and continues exploring the effect it has on the body and the organs.

We decided that the other children in the pre-school, not working with the same projekt, needed to learn from us. We decided to give our series about excercing to all the departments/ classes here at Svanens pre-school.

 The children reached out to Svanens chef, Albera in a letter. Asking her to help with distributing the excercising series to the other children.

Albera, can you please help us with something? Albera can you leave this to Vega, Polaris and Luna?”

Sharing their knowledge with others and being involved in the process from start to finish created joy and a sense of pride around their accomplishment.
